Not a checklist of cities, but small crossings through the places that make room for curiosity, ordinary life, and a different rhythm.
Field note 01 · Shaoxing · Watch with sound
What gives a city life?
In Shaoxing, black-canopied boats slip past tiled roofs and family doorsteps. The city carries Wang Xizhi and Lu Xun in its memory, yet it is the everyday that stays closest: plants by the canal, voices in the lane, water moving on.
Perhaps a city is not made alive by its monuments, but by the ordinary life continuing around them—and the restless question it leaves in us: what more might be possible?
Valencia · A small map for the first days
A personal starting point, not a checklist—please check current hours and menus before you go.
Long light, a bicycle, and permission to start slowly.
Eat · vegetal, generous
Begin with vegetables
Try Khambú for a plant-forward meal, or La Mandrágora when you want a longtime vegetarian stop. Order slowly. Ask what is seasonal.
Pause · notebook open
Find one café
Bluebell Coffee is a soft place to begin: coffee, a notebook, and no need to perform the day. Bring one Spanish sentence you want to try.
Look · where the city exhales
Keep walking to water
Take an unhurried loop through the Turia Garden, then save a late afternoon for the Albufera. Sunset is not an achievement. It is just a good place to be.
